"Increase the bid for Mascherano",says Hodgson
“I want them to increase the bid for Mascherano”, says Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson. Javier Mascherano was left out for the match against Manchester City.
The 26 year old is said to be available for transfer and Barca have approached Reds but the bidding price seems to be lower than what Hodgson might be expecting for the Argentinian international. Hodgson commented that he will be considering Mascherano for the starting eleven until the end of the transfer window.
Hodgson also said,”Barcelona seems interested in Mascherano but until they match our valuation, he is staying with us.”
It is reported that Liverpool want £25m for Mascherano but Barca is offering way low. But Mascherano is unhappy with the club and he wants to be moved no matter what.
Hodgson commented that Mascherano wants to be transfered so it was best for the club to go with Lucas and Gerrard. They are certainly more devoted to the club. I am hoping to resolve the issue before the end of the transfer window so that we can get on the same page with the Argentinian international.
Some reports are circulating that £12m is the maximum that is being offered to Liverpool but Mascherano cost Liverpool £18m three and a half year back.
Hodgson is not interested in keeping the Argentinian international if he wants to leave but he will not let him leave if the price is not right. Barcelona first showed interest 12 months back and are in pursuit of the player since then.
